Maidan Wardak: The 2nd section of Chaghcharan-Gardandiwal road has 71% progress

The second part of Chaghcharan-Gardandival road is 60 kilometers long and 11 meters wide, of which 55 km is under construction in Maidan-Wardak province, and the remaining 5 km is under construction in Bamyan province.

According to the Ministry of Public Works, this project is an important part of the East-West corridor of Afghanistan, and its construction work continues with 71% progress.

Furthermore, the East-West Corridor is one of the most important transport infrastructure projects in Afghanistan, starting from Nangarhar province and connecting to Herat through Laghman, Kabul, Maidan Wardak, Bamyan, and Ghor provinces.

Otherwise, many parts of this corridor have already been built; some parts of it are still under construction in Maidan Wardak, Ghor, and Herat provinces and the rest are in the stages of the survey, design, and procurement period.

Based on the MoPW technical findings, after the completion of this project, as a better alternative to the current highway between Herat-Kabul-Nangarhar, the east-west corridor would be the shortest route that connects Turgundi dry port of Herat to the Torkham port of Nangarhar in eastern Afghanistan.
